Waverley Bushwalking Club
gives you the opportunity of sharing the beauty of the Australian
bush with other like minded people. It is a wonderful feeling to
walk beside fast flowing mountain streams, to hear the calls of so many
birds and to see a great variety of wild flowers. Information about the
types of activities available is

If you have leadership experience you will be
a great asset to the club. If not, and you would like to contribute
to the club by leading walks, we will enable you to obtain these
skills while on the track and at one of our leadership courses.
There are many other ways you can contribute
to the bushwalking community. One is to get involved in the various
Bushwalking Victoria committees and activities such as track
maintenance and conservation.
What equipment should I have?
Initially we recommend you spend little or no money until you
discover which activities you enjoy. Discussion with experienced
members will reveal the pros and cons of their style of boots,
backpacks etc. Personal preferences vary considerably. Specialised
equipment will cost $50 - $300 (or more) per item, so you
should be sure you will continue bushwalking and know which items
are best for your choice of walks or camps. Specialised bushwalking
shops sell an extensive range of gear and many offer a 10% discount
to Club Members. Check out our suggested
